RGW retina specialist Mohsin Ali, M.D., co-authored an article in the August 2020 Journal of the American Medical Association Ophthalmology titled “Optic Nerve Edema, Venous Stasis Retinopathy, and Peripheral Retinal Whitening in a Teenage Girl.” The study describes a rare retinal condition, and the discovery of retinal manifestations attributed to hyper viscosity syndrome caused by a rare cancer known as lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma. Medical recommendations for this condition are reviewed as well. The findings prompted an urgent vision-saving and life-saving change in the medical care of the patient. Read Dr. Ali’s study here.
