Claudia Hooten, M.D. is an ophthalmologist, retina specialist & vitreoretinal surgeon at Retina Group of Washington. Dr. Hooten received her medical degree from University of Florida in Gainesville, and completed a residency in ophthalmology at University of Texas (UT)-Houston where she was Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Wake Forest University.
Dr. Hooten has received numerous honors and awards, including Outstanding Resident Award from UT-Houston Ophthalmology, John P. McGovern Student Award in Oslerian Medicine Award, and the UTMB Student Research Symposium Best Innovative Research. She has presented at national meetings including the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and Vit Buckle Society (VBS). Dr. Hooten has authored a book chapter and many original papers in various peer-reviewed journals including the Ocular Oncology and Pathology, Retinal Physician and Ophthalmology Retina.
Dr. Hooten is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) and a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO), and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
