ALLEGRO DME – Sponsored by Allegro Ophthalmic, LLC

Completed Study | Duration: Six months

ALLEGRO DME was a multi center, prospective, and randomized Phase II clinical trial for the treatment of Diabetic Macular Edema (DME). It compared the efficacy of intravitreal Luminate (anti-integrin) vs. intravitreal Avastin (anti-VEGF) vs. focal laser photocoagulation. Luminate is a new drug, first in its class, that binds and inhibits integrins, which plays a major role in new blood vessel formation during diseases such as Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy.
